Musicians Vika and Vadim Tsyganov told the story of the creation of the Wagner PMC anthem
Russian singer Vika Tsyganova and her husband, poet Vadim Tsyganov, talked about how they decided to write the anthem of the private military company (PMC) “Wagner”. They reported this in an interview with journalist and video blogger Yuri Dudu (included by the Ministry of Justice in the register of foreign agents)available on YouTube.
The Tsyganovs decided to write an anthem after a PMC soldier infiltrated their museum.
In October 2022, Vika Tsyganova released the PMC anthem called “Wagner”. The composition was based on poems written by her husband Vadim Tsyganov, and the video for the song showed videos of the military activities of Wagner fighters.
In an interview, the couple explained why they decided to write an anthem. According to Tsyganov, the idea to create the composition came to them after a man climbed over the fence at their St. Victoria museum in Adler.
He wanted to meet Vika. I even tried to kick him out, but Vika stopped me. We found a common language and started communicating. He told about his colleague who was wounded and survived; he was discharged. He was not accepted into the special forces and he went to Wagner. That’s when I wrote the song because they told me: “PMCs have no ideology”
The poet added that the main point of creating the composition was to shape the ideology of the PMC, as well as leave a mark on the formation of the nation as a whole.
The Tsyganovs did not know any of the Wagnerites, except for the wounded soldiers
When asked by Dudya whether the spouses knew about the interest of the Wagner commander Dmitry Utkin in Nazism, the Tsyganovs answered negatively. The poet admitted that he had seen a photograph of Utkin with Nazi tattoos, but was not sure of the authenticity of the photo.

“We didn’t know anyone except the wounded guys. We communicate only with the legless Volodya (a fighter of the Wagner PMC – approx. “Tapes.ru”), whom we help. And we met with other Wagners, hugged and that’s it,” said Tsyganov. The singer added that they had no time to make inquiries about the military personnel.
The Tsyganovs spoke on the topic of the heroism of the fighters of the Wagner PMC
In an interview, the poet noted that he considers everyone who sacrifices their life for another person a hero, and his wife emphasized that such actions are the highest form of love. Then Dud asked what the couple thought about those fighters who took part in the march to Moscow in June of this year.

“This is very bad. This is grief and tears, we do not support this, we do not support division. To me, the fact that they thought such actions were fair is not something good. If they have an understanding that they are not a separate organization, but part of a single army, this will already be an ideology that has come out of the people, as he says [президент России] Vladimir Putin,” the couple noted.
The Tsyganovs spoke about Yevgeny Prigozhin’s attitude towards their song
Vadim Tsyganov admitted that despite the fact that he and his wife released the Wagner anthem, he “was not sympathetic” to the character of the founder and head of the PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin.

“I didn’t like this man’s behavior and his psychotype and don’t like him now. I didn’t say anything bad or good about him. I wrote a song to the soldiers, but Prigozhin is not there,” the poet emphasized.
At the same time, the couple noted that Prigozhin’s reaction to the anthem was positive. Then they decided to write the next composition for the PMC called “Cheburashka”.
