British Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton dominated the second free practice of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, at the conclusion of the Formula 1 World Championship, after Max Verstappen topped the first free practice that was held earlier in the day.
Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, set the best lap time on the 5,281-meter “Yas Marina” track, clocking one minute and 23.691 seconds.
Alpha Tauri Esteban Ocon was second, with Hamilton’s Mercedes team mate Valtteri Bottas third, while Red Bull’s Verstappen was fourth, 0.641 seconds behind.
Hamilton is looking forward to claiming his eighth world championship title in Formula One, while Verstappen hopes to win the world championship for the first time in his career, which will be the first title for Red Bull since 2013.
Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen crashed in the second practice session when he hit a wall at the end of the second practice session, in his last race.
His team said he was fine but the car was badly damaged.
Raikkonen, the 2007 world champion, ends his career after 20 years in the sport on Sunday.
