Last month a report was released where it mentioned that Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft had no intention of participating in this year’s E3. While this is something that shouldn’t come as a surprise to PlayStation and Xbox fans, fans of the Big N were concerned by this information. Now, Today it has been confirmed that, indeed, Nintendo will not be part of E3 2023.
According to a statement shared by Nintendo, the Japanese company has no plans to participate in this year’s edition of E3. This was what was discussed:
“We approach our participation in any event on a case-by-case basis, and we are always considering various ways to interact with our fans. Since this year’s E3 show didn’t fit into our plans, we have made the decision not to participate. However, we have been and continue to be a strong supporter of ESA and E3.”
While there’s still the possibility of Nintendo holding a Direct during June, the Japanese company won’t have any sort of first-party presence at this year’s event, something that’s sure to disappoint much of the industry. This is the first time Nintendo hasn’t been to E3 in years.
For its part, ReedPop, the organizers of this year’s event, have not commented on this revelation, but their latest statement assures that they are working to offer a good event for attendees. On related topics, a new Direct is on the way. Similarly, the Switch receives a new update.
Editor’s Note:
An E3 without Nintendo is not an E3. Although the companies are doing everything they can to keep this event afloat, this could well be considered a new nail in the coffin. It’s a real shame, and I hope the company at least has a Direct planned for the summer.
