The arrival of the new update for Meta Quest 3 introduces many new features, including support for external microphones, “lying down” mode and better passthrough.
The latest virtual reality headset from Meta has recently been updated with a patch that introduces a series of interesting new features and various optimizations.
The owners of Meta Quest 3 they will now be able to use their headset even in relaxing situations, just like the previous iteration, together with new features and general optimizations of the device. Let's find out what the most significant innovations are.
Use Meta Quest 3 while lying in bed
The update that brings Meta Quest 3 to v64 version introduces the “lying down” mode, which can be translated into Italian as “lying down mode”, which allows you to use the Facebook headset when you are comfortably lying in bed or on the sofa: an advantage already present in the previous iteration and in the much more expensive Apple Vision Pro, which allows users to watch a film or any other content in a prone position, a feature that – beyond daily uses – will certainly please those who have back problems or are bedridden. To use this mode you will need to activate it from the “Experimental Features” menu of the viewer.
In addition to this, Meta claims to have Improved video passthrough quality, in particular on the “perceived resolution” side: the grain filter should therefore allow a better view of the external world and of the texts. The company then claims to have further improved the brightness, contrast and color of images in passthrough, especially in low visibility conditions.
External microphones
The latest change in the v64 version concerns support for external microphones: Meta Quest 3 allows using microphones via USB-C porta feature that once again must be enabled from the “Experimental Features” screen.
Finally, users who use the Meta Quest app for streaming will be able to continue recording their live broadcast even after disconnecting their headphones, without interrupting the live broadcast.
Meta is also working to implement new features for the Horizon Worlds metaverse: despite the crisis in the segment. the company seems intent on continuing support also on the virtual worlds side.
