Final Fantasy 14 after many years it remains one of the most played and appreciated MMORPGs by players and will soon begin a new chapter with the Dawntrail expansion, arriving on July 2nd. In one of the pre-launch interviews, Naoki Yoshida, the game director and producer, stated that his dream would be to bring the game to a “Nintendo platform”. And clearly the thought immediately goes to Nintendo Switch 2.
More specifically, when asked if, considering the great success of the Switch and the arrival of its success in the near future, Square Enix is considering creating a specific conversion of Final Fantasy 14 for Nintendo Switch 2, Yoshida explained that his dream And bring the MMO to as many platforms as possibleobviously including the Nintendo ones, although it is an objective that requires commitment and potentially a lot of time, as in the case of the Xbox versions.
The words of Naoki Yoshida
“My dream, or goal, for more than ten years now is that players can play Final Fantasy 14 regardless of your device that they use, and that they can access the servers to enter and access the same world,” Yoshida said in the interview with Easy Allies.
“We’ve been talking about bringing the game to Xbox for years, and so obviously we would love to have Final Fantasy 14 on a Nintendo platform, and we want to continue our efforts. But it’s been a long time coming – Xbox we’ve literally been talking about for years, and now it’s finally happening. We will do our best and continue to work hard and push forward our efforts. Ultimately it would be cool, something we’d love to explore and make a reality one day.”
Yoshida therefore has not confirmed whether there are actually plans or conversations with the Kyoto company for a possible Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy 14, but at least now we know that there is interest on the part of the series producer. Furthermore, as we know Square Enix announced a new strategy a few weeks ago, which aims to bring its games to as many platforms as possible.
