With the water level of the Natisone much lower, almost normal, the bodies surfaced. But the third boy who was overwhelmed is still missing.
News this morning, the firefighters have recovered two missing in the waters of the Natisone river, a watercourse defined as a torrent due to its normally reduced flow rate, near Udine. The lifeless bodies of the two girls swept away by the flood just two days ago have been found. They are Patrizia Cormos and Bianca Doros, dragged away by the current together with their friend Cristian Casian Molnar, who is still missing.
The bodies were found 700 and 1,000 meters from the point of the last sighting, a journey which, although apparently short, must have been terrible in the fury of the full of the river. The prosecutor’s office has opened a file on the incident, without suspects or hypotheses of crime. From the Roman bridge, where they were last seen, firefighters had lowered ropes to try to save them.

According to some experts, it is likely that the two girls died a few moments after crossing that very bridge, when the group of boys was lost sight of. Dragged by the force of the waters, the bodies, perhaps already lifeless also due to the low temperature in the water, they got entangled in vegetation. With the water level of the Natisone much lower, almost normal, the bodies surfaced.

“The research continues with all the resources at our disposal. We won’t stop until we find the third missing person. The hope, although reduced, is to find him still alive,” Sergio Benedetti, deputy commander of the Udine Fire Brigade, told Adnkronos. “It’s sunny now, but we need to see what the weather is like upstream. We found the girls distant from each other. The first body was found by the firefighters, the second by the Civil Protection volunteers.”
The Region, meanwhile, has expressed deep condolences and their closeness to the families affected by this terrible tragedy, a dramatic moment for the entire community. The governor of Friuli Venezia-Giulia, Massimiliano Fedriga, upon hearing the news of the discovery of the bodies of the two girls, also wanted to communicate how “The regional administration expresses its thanks to the firefighters, civil protection volunteers and anyone involved in the search for the three boys involved in the dramatic accident on the Natisone”.
