How many difficulties on the track
Dancing cars, annoyed radio teams and a good but not sparkling timesheet. He ended like this – exactly as he had been in Imola with more worries than smiles – on Friday in Monaco for Max Verstappen. The reigning world champion in Italy had managed to straighten out the situation, grabbing pole and victory. This time, however, he himself is more pessimistic, confirming the concerns for the Principality’s weekend already expressed yesterday at the press conference.
Nightmare bumps
“Today was quite difficult, but we knew that going into this weekend’s race it would be like that – explained Verstappen at the end of the day – There were a lot of bumps and temperature variations on the track, which made things difficult for us. Every time we went over a bump, the car lost a lot of lap time and on this track a small jump can always send you into the wall. We are studying a solution for the weekend to resolve the problem“.
No miracles in sight
“In general – continued the world champion – the problem is a little more difficult to solve at a set-up level and it won’t be a quick fix, but we will work on it overnight. We don’t expect miracles – concluded Verstappen – but let’s look to tomorrow anyway. Also Ferrari is fast, but I don’t think about it until tomorrow. Overnight we will look at the problems we have and hope to improve the handling of the car ahead of qualifying“.
