At least ten soldiers were killed in an ambush by a terrorist group in southeastern Niger, at the border with Mali, the Nigerien Ministry of Defense said Saturday.
However, the outcome of this attack, which took place in the town of Intagami, is likely to rise, especially since the ministry indicated in a statement that “16 people were missing and 13 soldiers were wounded.”
The African Sahel region, which includes Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mauritania, has been facing acts of violence carried out by terrorist groups for years. These groups are linked to the terrorist organizations Al Qaeda and ISIS.
Fifteen people were killed in an attack by terrorists in the central region of northern Burkina Faso, according to security sources, on Friday.
These attacks left thousands dead, and led to the displacement of about two million people.
