Tremors on the border between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan may occur again. The director of the Institute of Earthquake Forecast Theory and Mathematical Geophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Petr Shebalin, announced this on Monday, March 4.
“There is a high probability that their magnitude may be greater. They may also affect other regions nearby. However, they will no longer be associated with today’s earthquakes,” the specialist said in an interview with “Paragraph.”
Earlier on March 4, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan reported that an earthquake was registered in Almaty at 11:22 (09:22 Moscow time). Its magnitude was 6.1 points, the tremors were felt with a force of 5 points. The epicenter was located 31 km south of Almaty at a depth of 10 km.

Later, the head of the emergency department of the city of Almaty, Nurlan Atygaev, said that no casualties or destruction were recorded as a result of the earthquake, reports RT.
