TASS news agency quoted the Russian Ministry of Defense as saying that air defenses shot down 8 Atakms missiles over the Sea of Azov and intercepted 8 drones over the Black Sea near the Crimean Peninsula on Thursday.
Earlier, a local Russian official in the Crimean Peninsula, which Moscow annexed, said that missile debris damaged two ferries near the city of Kerch and movement on the ferry line there was suspended.
Separately, Russian authorities said they had suspended vehicle traffic on the main Crimean bridge linking the peninsula to Russia.
In Kiev, the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force said on Thursday that air defense systems destroyed 7 missiles and 32 drones launched by Russia during the night.
The Ukrainian official stated on the Telegram application that Russia launched a total of 51 missiles and drones.
He added that Russian forces attacked “military installations and vital infrastructure in Ukraine,” but did not provide further details.
Ihor Terekhov, mayor of Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine, said in a separate statement that vital infrastructure in the city was bombed last night and that 4 people were injured.
There were no reports from other civilian or military authorities of casualties or destruction due to the attacks.
