Mexico City.– The coordinator of the PRI deputies, Rubén Moreira, called on Morena to be cautious in the face of his haste to approve the judicial reform, when there are other social issues to address.
He warned that it is a broad proposal that should be discussed until Claudia Sheinbaum is sworn in as President of the Republic.
This Tuesday, elected and outgoing legislators refined the holding of new forums to discuss the reform of the Judiciary, whose main proposal is the election by popular vote of judges, magistrates and ministers.
“I believe that even the most prudent thing in the case of the reform of the Judiciary is to wait until the next president, who is also going to be head of the Mexican State, is in office.
“We believe that the way in which this reform is being proposed is wrong. There is very little time for such an important reform,” said Moreira, re-elected as a deputy and who could repeat as parliamentary coordinator.
He demanded that there be a serious and responsible call to discuss the forums, with the provision that there be corrections.
For now, he said, the PRI is against the process that they want to open, where the people are not listened to, they are not informed and there is no in-depth reflection on the broad initiative of the federal Executive.
“I personally believe that the election of judges is not correct, nor is it correct of magistrates. Why? Because it is a technical position.
“Look how botched the survey is. It says ‘Did you know about this yes or no?’, most of them didn’t. ‘Do you want to be elected to the Senate?’ The ministers are chosen by the president, not the Senate, the last (minister) was chosen by the president. Second, ‘Do you want the people to choose you?’, and why didn’t they put another box that said: ‘Do you want to be elected?’ that they are the best qualified and are through opposition exams?'”.
He accused that with polls they seek to impose a reform of importance for the country, but they forget other important social reforms, such as guaranteeing the increase in the minimum wage above inflation or the reduction of the working day.
“We also do not agree on surveys as they try to deceive everyone,” he said in an interview.
He added that although the consultation forums may be a simulation, because the decision has already been made, those interested must participate so that it is not said that there was no participation or that other proposals were presented.
Moreira asserted that the PRI will be open to dialogue and carry out parliamentary work.
