Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have been officially presented but several details are not yet known, however it seems that a fundamental element of the game’s mechanics, namely the catching Pokémonmay have been partially revealed from what has been shown so far and could represent a return to traditional style, therefore different from Arceus.
In particular, many fans refer to what is visible in the presentation trailer of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and in the short text accompanying the official site of the new games, which appears to contain a quick reference to the capture mechanics and its proximity to the classic style of the series.
“City and nature come together in a world without borders. You will be able to observe the Pokémon of this region everywhere: skies, seas, forests, roads and more! You will be able to relive the essence of the Pokémon series games, facing the wild Pokémon in the struggles to capture them, but in an open world adventure suitable for players of all ages. ”
This text, present on the official site of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, as well as an image of what appears to be a fight against a Larvitar, seem to refer to a return to the mechanical tradition of capture, through combat.
Various fans are discussing the question on Reddit, with the common idea that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet represent a return to standard combat. The thing is not too surprising, but it was not obvious: Pokémon Legends Arceus presents a different systemwhich allows you to catch Pokémon even simply by throwing Pokéballs on creatures you meet around the world.
The new chapters, being part of the standard series, should instead return to the traditional system, which provides a combat to weaken the creatures before they can attempt capture. For the rest, we have seen that the graphics have improved according to a comparison with Sword and Shield.
