Ready for the challenge
This Saturday Peru will exercise at the Sadd Stadium in Doha at 6:00 p.m. (local time).
The stay of the South American team in Barcelona lasted practically two weeks and the climax was the friendly match played last Sunday against New Zealand at the RCDE Stadium, where 32,000 Peruvian fans gathered.
Gareca’s team won 1-0 with a goal from Gianluca Lapadula in the second half. In addition, during this concentration he met his opponent in the playoffs: Australia, who beat the United Arab Emirates 1-2 with goals from Jackson Irvine and Ajdin Hrustic.
In case of victory, Peru would repeat in a World Cup for the second consecutive edition after having been 36 years without playing any. The decisive match against Australia will be played on Monday at 9:00 p.m. (local time) at the Al Rayyan Stadium in Doha.
To qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Peru has already eliminated another Oceanic team in the playoffs. In that case it was New Zealand, whom they beat 2-0 on aggregate.
