Today’s Nintendo Direct was a lot of stuffin the literal sense: probably the last dedicated exclusively to the current model of the Japanese hybrid console, the event has put in place muscles and above all numbers to fill the release calendar.
Waiting for reveal of Nintendo Switch 2which should take place by the end of the year, the Kyoto house has in short been keen to point out that there are still many excellent reasons to own the original Switch, and it’s not just about remasters or third party productions of very relative relevance.
In this sense, the closure of the Direct was particularly significant, with the eagerly awaited (re)presentation of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond which has finally established a release period for the new chapter, simultaneously showing some gameplay sequences and a technical sector that seems to push the Nintendo platform to the limit.
To the point that there are already those who hypothesize it was a video captured on Nintendo Switch 2given that the game will most likely be cross-gen and could certainly be part of the launch line-up of the Japanese company’s next console.
Zelda, Mario and everything in between
As we were saying, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond worthily closed a Nintendo Direct which proved to be overloaded with announcements, both in terms of first party and third party productions, with also several surprises particularly welcome.
Among these, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Mario & Luigi: Charging Brotherhood certainly stand out. coming to Nintendo Switch on September 26th and November 7th respectively, while the release of Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is now just a few days away.
Donkey Kong Country Returns HD was then announced, which will debut in January, and Super Mario Party Jamboree, arriving in October, as well as some important updates for Nintendo Switch Sports (basketball!) and the Nintendo Switch Online platform.
After that there were numerous third-party games: from LEGO Horizon Adventures to Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, from Stray to Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, from Ace Attorney Investigations Collection to Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game, passing through MIO: Memories in Orbit, Funko Fusion, Darkest Dungeon 2 and Farmagia.
What were the announcements that struck you the most? Let’s talk about.
