A quiet and relaxed Fabio Quartararo shows up in the press room to talk about the MotoGP weekend that awaits him at MotorLand Aragón.
The Yamaha rider knows that he cannot do otherwise, given that as leader in the championship standings he must defend the primacy from the comeback of ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia, who with Ducati has lowered the poker in the last few races.
On his M1, the Frenchman was able to try some innovations in the collective tests carried out in Misano after the San Marino Grand Prix, so the goal is to restart from the good results obtained in Romagna after a very difficult weekend where he had suffered a lot.
Certainly the Alcañiz track represents another treacherous obstacle, but it is also true that as the reigning World Champion you cannot give up at the start.

“Aragón is a difficult track, where in Free Practice and Qualifying we have always managed to go well, but without ever achieving a great result in the race”, says Quartararo.
“We know what the problem is we have had in the last two years, so we will try not to run into it again. In general, it is not the track itself that worries me.”
“The fourth sector seems to be the most difficult for us, we will suffer a lot from the acceleration and the long straight, then the last corner, which in particular is the one where I struggle most”.
“Last year we were pretty fast at the end, so if we can reduce the speed problems I think we can have a good race. I’m confident and we’ll see how we can face the weekend.”

As we said, at Misano the test served to try new things on the Tre Diapason bike; the chassis will also be re-proposed in Spain and then we will see how to proceed with the work after tomorrow’s free practice.
“Obviously the Misano test was an important test in many ways. After the race we were all a bit down in the dumps, but I think that after this session smiles and confidence in the team returned, cheering us up.”
“We will test the frame used in the tests because it satisfied us, in some areas it represented an improvement, although not in others. We will probably have it in Free Practice, I don’t know if 1 or 2, to see how it works. I would love to ride already the 2023 engine, but this is unfortunately not possible now “.

Finally, there is the Bagnaia-Ducati “affair”, a duo that seems invincible lately and that is seriously threatening the Quartararo World Championship primacy, which however does not want to think too much about the pressures of rivals, preferring to concentrate on their work.
“The situation is that I have a 30-point lead, so it’s not important to be calm or worried. I just have to try to do my best and push to the limit, which is what I’m doing. Then we’ll see how it goes in the next races.”
