Last month it was launched Jurassic World: Dominion by Colin Trevorrow, the closing of the current dinosaur trilogy that follows the events seen after the first three series of Jurassic Park.
Seamus Blackleyknown for creating and designing the Xbox original, revealed some interesting details about the project, which was to be a sequel to Trespasser, the 1998 PC title that in turn followed the events of The Lost World, the second film in the saga.
Before joining Microsoft, Blackley was part of DreamWorks Interactive and executive producer of Trespasser, a game that was criticized for its numerous bugs and excessive ambition for the time, causing poor performance even on the best computers.
After leaving Xbox, he founded Capital Entertainment Group, which partnered with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to reform the video game industry’s funding models. Director Steven Spielberg was a client of AAC and worked with Blackley on a number of projects, sometimes involving video games or movies. One day the news came: Spielberg wanted to revive the Jurassic Park license with a Trespasser sequel video game.
In 2012 or, I left my job at CAA to work with Steven S on a game, a new Jurassic Park story, to make good the skid mark we left with Trespasser. I wrote a story and design, and made a trailer. The management at Universal changed, and the project became a film. Want to know more?

“I wrote a story about the dinosaurs fleeing the island of Sorna and the research centers, and about how humans have had to adapt to coexistence with the former owners of the planet. My contention is that the public preferred to learn more about dinosaurs rather than kill them“Blackley says.
“With the help of incredibly talented artists and programmers we have created game design, art and a biblical story. We called it Jurassic WorldThe team also produced a trailer with this idea.
Spielberg was happy with the trailer, the story was approved, and the developers started getting hired, but the project didn’t materialize. However, not everything has been abandoned.
“Universal co-president left, it was all chaos, and the thing I knew was that he was sending our art to Frank Marshall – who would later become the producer of the Jurassic World films – who is a fantastic person and the best guy in Hollywood. There was a movie in progress and the cancellation of the game meant that they had received all the material. Honestly it’s the best thing that could have happened“.
