Later in April the bank clarified that the activities contrary to the instructions were concentrated in about three percent of the bank’s six billion euro credit portfolio, i.e. about 180 million euro loan base.
The Central Criminal Police said at the beginning of May that he had started a preliminary investigation into securities market crimes related to Oma-säästöpankki. The Central Criminal Police received an investigation request from the Financial Supervisory Authority.
Jarmo Salmi refers to these ambiguities in the company’s announcement. According to him, Oma-säästöpankki “has been the subject of negative publicity in recent weeks”.
“The board is responsible for the company’s operations, and I, in the role of chairman, am responsible for the board’s operations. I think it is better for the company that the board can continue its activities under the leadership of the new chairman”, says Salmi in the press release.
Jaakko Ossa says in the press release that he takes the position of chairman seriously. The board will continue to implement the company’s current strategy.
Oma-säästöbanken the board also decided to establish an audit committee, the composition of which will be specified later.
Ossa told Helsingin Sanomat that the audit committee’s agenda and priority areas will be decided in more detail at the next meeting of the board.
