The Tropical Storm Albertothe first of this 2024 in the Atlantic, It formed this Wednesday in the Gulf of Mexico and threatens strong rains and winds and floods in Mexico and the coast of Texas (USA), reported the National Hurricane Center (NHC, in English) of the United States. It is expected to enter land during the night of this Wednesday or early hours of Thursday.
With maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (40 miles), Alberto is moving west at 5 kilometers per hour (9 miles).
The system is located 300 kilometers (185 miles) east of Tampico, Mexico, and about 480 kilometers (295 miles) southeast of Brownsville, Texas.
This year, the Atlantic will have a season of hurricanes above average, with the possibility of up to thirteen hurricanes, of which up to seven may be major, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the United States.
