Up to 875,436 fixed-term registrations were recorded in 2021 in the Community, 11.5% more, but it is a less intense increase than in Spain
Temporary hiring increased by 11.5% in 2021 in the Region of Murcia. A total of 875,436 contracts were signed, compared to the 785,413 that were signed in 2020, which represents the least intense increase of all the autonomous communities, according to a Randstad report. In Spain, temporary contracts rose 20% last year, with almost 17.3 million contracts signed, an increase that revealed that, despite this growth, the volume of temporary contracts is still 15% lower than in 2019, before the outbreak of the pandemic.
The services sector recorded the largest annual rise in temporary contracts, 28.6%, and the highest figure in absolute values, with nearly 11.4 million contracts. In fact, two out of every three temporary contracts signed last year belong to this sector. For its part, industry also experienced significant growth in temporary contracts, 19.6%, while agriculture hardly registered any variation and construction fell by 1.1%.
«These figures confirm the importance of fixed-term contracts, not only to generate employment in our country, but also to provide an effective solution to peaks in demand in important sectors. However, it is still perceived that the pandemic has not disappeared, so there is some room for growth, “said Valentín Bote, director of Randstad Research.
