The actor died at his home in Batavia, New York, after seven years of battling various illnesses, in addition to cancer.
The world of television loses a actor who lost one of the most difficult battles. The famous actor, in fact, was defeated by cancer after a long period as a fighter which saw him try various paths and therapies.
The actor died surrounded by the affection of his loved ones, after a long battle with cancer prostate and Crohn’s disease, a condition which further complicated his health conditions. The artist and comedian Hiram Kastenaged 71, will forever be remembered for his performance in one of the most loved and followed TV series on modern television.
In a twist of fate, he passed away the day after his 38th wedding anniversary to his beloved Diana. Hiram Kasten, a famous comedian known on the New York comedy club circuit and for shows such as “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, “Seinfeld” and for his participation in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, has a long career behind him.
Kasten passed away at his home in Batavia, New York, after well seven years to fight against various diseases, not just against a damn cancer. He was a “regular” actor, therefore a regular presence, at the Comic Strip in New York, where he met the then MC Jerry Seinfeld, with whom he became friends. During the 1970s and 1980s, Kasten performed frequently at venues such as Catch a Rising Star, The Improv, The Comedy Cellar and Caroline’s.
Al Dangerfield’s hosted his own show on Sunday nights for many years. In the late 1980s, Kasten moved to Los Angeles, participating in film productions such as “Mad About You”, “Everybody Loves Raymond”, “7th Heaven” and, as anticipated, “Willy, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, perhaps one of the most appreciated and followed titles in Italy in recent decades.
On “Seinfeld” he played Michael, a colleague of Elaine’s. The actor also created a show at the Desert Inn in Las Vegas called “The Rat Pack is Back” and later took his comedy around the world with the Seabourn, Royal Viking and Princess cruise lines.
Kasten leaves behind his wife Diana Kisiel Kastenbaum, daughter Millicent Jade and numerous grandchildren and a large family who grieves for him. Funeral services will be held at the Schwartz Brothers-Jeffers Memorial Chapel in Forest Hills, New York. A memorial ceremony, however, will take place in Los Angeles over the summer. The family has asked that anyone wishing to send a greeting, a message, do so with their presence, of course, but above all with a charitable donation to the Crossroads House or the Entertainment Community Fund.
