Negotiations between Espanyol de Barcelona and Rayados de Monterrey have been activated since last summer market. Specifically, on the last day of the open market, the Barcelona team contacted the team in northern Mexico seeking the signature of the Mexican central defender as an emergency reinforcement for the club’s lower zone, however, the Spanish team and the Mexican team they did not reach an agreement, but they left the door open to retry in December.
In the end, everything turned out as expected, the Mexican completed an excellent World Cup despite the elimination of El Tri and the Espanyol team understood that it was the ideal central defender for their needs and search for permanence. Thus, both institutions resumed talks a couple of weeks ago and although there were a couple of complications along the way, everything is closed and the Mexican will be a new footballer for the team that is ranked sixteenth in LaLiga.
As the Espanyol board wanted, César Montes has become his Christmas gift in exchange for an immediate million euros and close to 7 million euros to be paid at the end of the season if the team manages to stay. The Mexican is expected to travel within 48 hours to sign his contract with the club after medical tests. The intention of the Catalan team is to have Montes available for the first game of 2023, since logically, César will not be able to have minutes on December 31 against Barcelona.
