The Yemeni government confirmed that the Houthi group’s announcement, what it called a “unilateral initiative,” to release kidnapped civilians from outside the exchange lists is a “new lie” and misleading public opinion, and said: If the group is serious about taking steps in this file, it must join the negotiations seriously. Al-Eryani continued, “It must also disclose the fate of the politician Muhammad Qahtan, one of the four included in the UN Security Council resolution,” calling on the international community, the United Nations and human rights organizations not to be drawn into the Houthi tricks and fallacies, and to condemn the crimes of kidnapping and systematic enforced disappearance against thousands of civilians as a blatant violation of international law. And international humanitarian law, and putting real pressure on the group to achieve real progress in this file, and put an end to the suffering of prisoners, abductees and their families.
