In May there have already been 15 hot days, so a new record was set for the number of hot days. The previous record of 14 was six years ago.
On average, heat is measured in Finland on three days in May. The light limit is exceeded when the temperature rises above 25 degrees.

According to the study hot periods are also becoming more common in Finland.
There have been scorching summers in Finland in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2021.
If global warming cannot be stopped to no more than two degrees from pre-industrial times, hot periods may occur even every other year.
The number of hot days may also increase tenfold, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute states.
The biggest change would be in Southern Finland.
