Senator says he will rule out his own presidential candidacy, but says he can try the Paraná Executive
The senator Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR) denied this Monday (June 17, 2024) that he intends to run for President of the Republic in 2026, but said he will support “someone who can overthrow the PT [Partido dos Trabalhadores]“.
In an interview with the program “Direto ao Ponto”, from Jovem Pan NewsMoro quoted the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil), as one of the names for the presidential election.
“We jokingly say in the party that 86% of Goiás people – which is Caiado’s approval rate – cannot be wrong. He has stood out in public safety and education in the state. But the most important thing is to defeat the PT and Lula, because the country can’t take it anymore”, he stated. The governor of Goiás is one of the favorites for the 2026 pre-candidacy.
Asked about his intentions in the future, the former Lava Jato judge said he may enter the race for the Paraná Executive. “I intend to prevent the PT from taking over Paraná, and I am one of the names that is capable of doing so”he declared.
