The professional and personal mission of Diego Gaspar Celaya, historian of Contemporary History at the University of Zaragoza and expert on the Spanish exile, has been to preserve and shed light on the history of the combatants of The Nine. This company, part of the 2nd Armored Division of Free France, also known as the Leclerc Division, played a crucial role in the liberation of France from Nazi occupation in 1944. Since 2008, Gaspar has dedicated his efforts to researching French archives, conducting scientific work, and meeting relatives of these men, with the aim of recovering and making known their identities and exploits. As shown in the video at the top of this news, in 2023, he decided to promote a project together with the Government of Aragon to create a public archive dedicated to the history of these combatants. This space also allows those who wish to obtain information or contribute additional data to do so in an accessible and collaborative way.
