The Dutchman highlights two important ‘flaws’
Over the weekend in Imola Max Verstappen he divided his time between the F1 GP and the 24 hours of the Ring on iRacing with his sim-racing companions from the RedLine team. Preparing the car and finding the right compromise in terms of set-up for a crew gives a lot of satisfaction to Max Verstappen who will certainly do the same in the future by participating in the 24 hours of Le Mans, but currently there are two aspects that do not convince the three-time F1 world champion .
“I believe that with the new regulations the Balance of Performance needs to be calibrated a little better – explained Max Verstappen as reported by the newspaper racefans.net – I find that at the moment there is a bit of confusion in several aspects. Another factor that is currently penalizing for some riders is weight, a minimum weight must be introduced. I believe I can weigh 80 kg once equipped with all the equipment, while other pilots can weigh around 55-60 kg. A difference that on a track like Le Mans is worth two tenths per lap.” Basically, Verstappen hopes for ‘ballast’ for the ‘jockeys’ at the wheel.
Verstappen also follows the GT World Challenge closely during the race weekends also because he is involved in that series Thierry Vermeulen, son of Raymond, Verstappen’s manager. Although he is 100% focused on F1, between sim-racing and off-track activities Verstappen is more than ‘on the ball’ as far as the world of covered wheels is concerned and with a view to a future arrival in the WEC to race at Le Mans yes hopes not to have to serve penalties due to factors that he cannot control such as the weight of a driver or the BOP between the cars.
