The Associated Press denounced the move.
“The Associated Press condemns in the strongest terms the actions of the Israeli government by cutting off our long-running live broadcast showing footage of Gaza, as well as seizing AP equipment,” said Lauren Easton, AP’s vice president of corporate communications.
She added that this move “was not based on the content of the broadcast, but rather on the arbitrary use by the Israeli government of the country’s new foreign broadcast law.”
The agency urged the Israeli authorities to return its equipment and enable it to resume live broadcasts immediately so that it can continue to provide this important visual journalistic work to thousands of media outlets around the world.
