Ukraine.- After the attacks of the Russian offensive intensified in various regions of Ukraine, causing the Zaporiya nuclear power plant to be affected by the conflict, unleashing a fire, drastically increasing the risks that this represents, the United Nations (UN), stated that there is no record of a radioactive leak.
This was reported by the director general of the nuclear agency of the UN, Rafael Grossi who in turn criticized that the security of the largest nuclear plant is compromised by Russian attacks.
“Safety has been compromised with what happened last night, we’re lucky there wasn’t a radiation leak,” declared Grossi at a press conference.
Likewise, the Grossi expressed his concern about what happened and pointed out that luckily there was no release of radiation. In this sense, he also explained that the missile that hit the nuclear power plant was from the Russian army, and stressed the danger that exists when fighting in places close to the nuclear infrastructure.
Yesterday there was a Russian attack on the zaporoyia nuclear power plant, which is considered the largest in Europe, as a result, there was a strong fire that was finally put out by firefighters after an hour of maneuvers.
During the first moments of the attack on the nuclear power plant, spokesman Andrei Tuz warned of the imminent risk of projectile impacts, which he said; “The Russian army is firing from all sides on the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.”
In his message, Andrei Tuz also assured that an explosion at this plant could be 10 times larger than that of Chernobyl, for which he urged a ceasefire in the sector.
