Turning Red is the most recent Disney and Pixar film that tells the story of Meilin Lee, a Canadian girl from a Chinese family who has to face a serious problem: puberty. This is not something that should surprise us, because Domee Shi, the director of this film confessed in the documentary ‘Embrace the Panda’ that much of his inspiration for character design and backgrounds comes from anime like sailor Moon.
