Fidan: Putin’s proposals for Ukraine are a glimmer of hope
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, spoke about the new proposals put forward by Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding Ukraine, calling them a glimmer of hope. This is reported by RIA News.
“Russia recently put forward new conditions. Regardless of their content, they are an important step and a glimmer of hope to begin with,” he said.
Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that freezing the Ukrainian conflict would not solve the problem. Speaking at a conference in Switzerland, she spoke about the need for a just peace in Ukraine.
Before this, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called Russia’s participation a condition for peace in Ukraine. At the same time, he considered Putin’s proposal for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict to be frivolous.
