Administration of Rostov-on-Don: movement restricted after hostage-taking
Traffic was restricted in the center of Rostov-on-Don after hostages were taken in a Rostov pre-trial detention center. This was reported by the city administration in Telegram.
“The movement of vehicles is limited along: Kirovsky Ave. from the street. Krasnoarmeyskaya to st. Suvorov; st. M. Gorky from lane. Universitetsky to Kirovsky Ave.; st. Suvorov from lane. Universitetsky to Kirovsky Ave.,” the authorities of Rostov-on-Don informed.
On the morning of June 16, the accused took hostages in the Rostov pre-trial detention center. According to preliminary data, they demanded weapons, a car and the opportunity to leave the detention center. Special forces soldiers from the Federal Penitentiary Service and Special Operations Brigade arrived at the pre-trial detention center, and an ambulance and rescuers were on duty nearby.
In addition, the identities of five of the six attackers became known. Among them were those convicted of preparing a terrorist attack and participating in ISIS (the organization is recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia) Gireev, Tsitskiev and Akiev.
