Genoa – The hearing of Alfonso Lavarello, manager and president of Genoa Airport. Lavarello is heard as a person of fact in the corruption investigation which has brought the president of the Liguria Region, Giovanni Toti, under house arrest since 7 May.
Lavarello is a key figure in the story of the 30-year renewal of the concession of the Bulk Terminal to Aldo Spinelli (also under house arrest). The manager, in fact, had managed to find them an agreement between Spinelli and the shipowner Gianluigi Aponte (not investigated), after months of arguments, threats of complaints to the prosecutor’s office and letters from lawyers. The two entrepreneurs, according to what emerged from the documents, reached an agreement on the division of the Bulk Terminal. So much so that Toti, in an interview with the then president of the port authority Paolo Emilio Signorini (the only one in prison) commented: “This is a great thing, when I return we’ll offer him a dinner, even if I think he can easily afford it…”.
