6,400 places will be offered for training and skills development for Murcians aged 3 to 18
The former mayor of Murcia and leader of the Popular Municipal Group in the Murcia City Council, José Ballesta, presented this Tuesday with his team the initiative ‘Educational Murcia. Talent Area’, the eighth of the strategic projects that the PP proposes monthly until next 2023. This initiative aims to develop the participation and talent of young people from Murcia up to 18 years of age, favoring and stimulating their teaching and learning processes.
Belén López was responsible for explaining this new “ambitious project” that focuses on the new generations of Murcians and is based on three axes: “An infrastructure plan and adaptation of spaces, the development of skills and competencies, and the empowerment of participation and collaborative spaces.
Network of schools from 3 to 18 years old
This educational project, which “will greatly facilitate family and work reconciliation”, is aimed at students from 3 to 18 years old. 6,400 places will be created to improve the training of the new generations, “greatly facilitating the reconciliation of family and work”, since the schools will have a wide and flexible schedule (from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.).

Children’s day centers, 2,000 places and 1,000 scholarships
“Children from 0 to 2 years old will have 1,000 ‘early childhood’ scholarships to meet the educational needs of the youngest, corresponding to 250 scholarships per year, of 100, 200 and 300 euros per month.” In addition, 2,000 places will also be offered in children’s day centers, which will have a flexible schedule and different sections to improve family awareness, “said the popular.
The first municipal school ‘Steam’
‘Educational Murcia, Area of Talent’ will create a Network of Municipal Schools through an educational program, which is committed to the participation and promotion of the talent of children and young people from Murcia, who will have the opportunity to learn other languages, develop skills and skills in music, fine and performing arts, as well as fostering their technological and scientific vocations.
In this way, Murcia will be a national pioneer in ‘Steam’ training (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics), which will allow the development of new generations through cooperation with entities such as universities, official language schools, companies in the information technology sector, museums, cultural associations, school councils, as well as national and international entities.
Creation of the Saavedra Fajardo Advisory Council
All this will be coordinated by the Saavedra Fajardo Advisory Council, made up of the Ampas of the schools, teaching cloisters, the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, as well as universities and professional associations. Its objective is the implementation of a training and conciliation system adapted to the municipal needs. Also, José Ballesta stressed that “this project will allow the integration of Murcia in the World Network of Learning Cities of UNESCO.”
The vice-rector of the University of Murcia, an institution that forms part of this Council, José Manuel López Nicolás, pointed out that this project “aligns perfectly with the new knowledge transfer strategy of the University of Murcia.” In the same way, he considered his contribution to the freedom of citizens as essential: “I understand freedom as decision-making based on knowledge and young people will be in charge of doing this in the future.”
Juan José Almela, dean of the College of Technical Computer Engineers of the Region of Murcia (Coitimur), stressed that “it is essential that our young people be able to train in these scientific-technological activities, since, today, we can see that unemployment is zero around this area in the future”.
For her part, María Alcázar, representing the Orfeón Murciano Fernández Caballero, pointed out that “it seems very important to us that all the parts of the project unite, since we not only work with music, but also with psychomotor skills, pedagogy and any other capacity through which the child can develop from an early age”.
