The National Police have arrested in Benalmádena (Málaga) the leader of the motorcycle gang MC Comanches in Spain, wanted for his alleged involvement in an attempted murder in Romania, as reported this Saturday by the Ministry of the Interior. The fugitive, who had been classified by Europol as high value target (high-value target, a definition used in international police jargon to refer to the most wanted criminals), had allegedly inherited the leadership of a criminal drug trafficking organization based on the Costa del Sol after the previous leader was arrested at the end of 2023 in Marbella. A short firearm, 32 cartridges, a machete, an ax and false documentation were found at the arrestee's home.
The fall of the biker leader has occurred in the development of an operation open in 2023 to investigate those responsible for the MC Comanches gang, which was considered integrated into a drug trafficking network. They were allegedly dedicated to transporting narcotics in vans from Spain to central and northern Europe. That investigation led to the arrest, at the end of last year, of the then leader of the group, on which a European Arrest and Surrender Order (OEDE) was issued by the German authorities. He was considered “directly linked to drug trafficking,” as explained by the National Police in a note. Arrested in Marbella, he was handed over to the Berlin justice system, but before leaving Spain he supposedly had time to leave control of his illicit business to another person who had previously led another biker gang, Hells Angels.
That second person then also became investigated by the Police. Upon being identified, the agents discovered that there was also an EAW against her. In this case, promoted by the Romanian authorities, which linked the alleged ringleader to a crime of attempted homicide in that country. In fact, Europol had classified it as a high-value target due to these events. The subsequent investigations made it possible to find out that he lived on the Costa del Sol and, specifically, in the town of Benalmádena, where he had not only established his residence but from there he also “coordinated the transport of drugs to Europe.”
In addition to the collaboration of the German and Romanian police during the investigations, the operation deployed to proceed with his arrest included the participation of members of the Special Operational Security Groups (GOES), specialized in the arrest of potentially dangerous criminals. After his capture, the agents searched the home and also the headquarters of a company that he had recently created whose corporate purpose was vehicle rental. In both places, weapons and several telephone terminals were found, as well as computer equipment and false documentation in the name of a third person that was used by the person under investigation. In addition to the crime of attempted murder in Romania, he is considered presumed responsible for the crimes of illegal possession of weapons and falsification of documents.
The presence on the Costa del Sol of members of motorcycle organizations linked to drug trafficking and other crimes is common and each year several police operations are carried out to dismantle them. In November of last year, for example, a member of the Danish motorcycle gang Bandidos was killed. He was part of a criminal group dedicated to supervising and financing the purchase of hashish that was then transported by road into Denmark, where it was also distributed. And in March another biker, this time from the Satudarah gang, was also arrested in Mijas after fleeing his country – Denmark – convicted of stabbing three people in a nightclub.
