Yesterday, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassem Al-Budaiwi, affirmed support for all efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis.
This came during Al-Budaiwi’s reception with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of Yemen, Dr. Shaye’ Al-Zindani, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh.
Al-Budaiwi stressed what was stated in the statement of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf in its 44th session, which included full support for the Presidential Leadership Council headed by Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi to achieve security and stability in Yemen.
The Secretary-General renewed the Gulf Cooperation Council’s support for all efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis in accordance with the three terms of reference, represented by the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive Yemeni National Dialogue Conference, and UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216, to achieve security and stability in Yemen.
During the meeting, the latest developments taking place in Yemen and the impact of Houthi operations in the Red Sea on regional and global economic conditions were reviewed, in addition to international and international efforts to contribute to resolving the Yemeni issue.
