Nintendo has launched a new crossover event in time for Super Mario Run celebrating the recent release of Paper Mario: The Millennial Portal for Nintendo Switch, the new first party exclusive for the hybrid console. Needless to say, participating can give you new content.

For those who don’t know, Super Mario Run is a mobile game launched in 2016, which many would like to have been dead for some time, but which apparently continues to be updated, particularly on the occasion of the launch of other Nintendo titles, as recently happened with Princess Peach: Showtime!.

What does the new event consist of? A bonus multiplier 1.2x the medals earned in Remix level 10. This will give them the chance to obtain special items from the Super Bonus Game. The bonus will be active until May 25th.

Of course that’s not all, because the event provides special missions themed Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Portal, with the possibility of earning decorations as rewards by completing a certain number. Event missions will be available until June 27th.

The bonuses at a glance

Super Mario Run is still alive and well

Let’s see the list of contents of the crossover in brief:

  • 1.2x medal bonus multiplier in Remix 10 (available until May 25)
  • In-game statues based on Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (available until June 27)
  • Paper Mario Statue: Complete 3 missions
  • Goombella Statue: Complete 6 missions
  • Koops Statue: Complete 9 missions

For those who don’t know, Nintendo had a phase of falling in love with the mobile market, coinciding with the disastrous failure of the Nintendo Wii U. For the company, the mobile world represented an escape route, in case the Nintendo Switch was also not successful. Super Mario Run was just one of several games launched on mobile by the company, including Mario Kart Tour, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Fire Emblem Heroes.

Subsequently, the stellar sales of Nintendo Switch they convinced the Mario house to take a step back, interrupting the launch of new games for Android and iOS systems.
