Social security savings|Husi’s board of directors had to make a decision again to close down the Lohja hospital’s maternity ward, because the first time the decision was made by obstructed politicians.
Lohjan it was decided to close down the maternity department of the hospital for the second time. Husi’s board of directors met for an extraordinary meeting on Monday morning.
The end result this time was the same as in the meeting at the beginning of May, where it was decided to reduce the hospital operations in Lohja and Porvoo.
A rectification request was made for the May meeting, because some of the decision-makers were considered obstructed. Some of the members of the association’s board serve in positions of trust in their own municipalities or in the boards of their welfare regions.
Prior the decision was not unanimous. In May, the representatives of Rkp wanted to keep the functions of Lohja hospital unchanged, while the social democrats wanted to postpone the decision.
Lohjan the operation of the maternity ward will cease in 2026. There will be additional space for births in both Jorvi and the Women’s Clinic.
Husi’s 255 million savings target for the years 2025–2027 means that cuts must also be made elsewhere. The savings will also be directed to Porvoo Hospital, which in the future, like Lohja, will be transformed into a day surgery hospital.
There are also plans to change the division of labor in Helsinki hospitals, as the Surgical Hospital and Herttoniemi Hospital premises are to be abandoned.
