The escape from Ukraine to Poland
The actor commented that it was almost impossible to leave Ukraine by means of transport due to the large number of families trying to flee, so together with his companions he decided to start a long walk to the border with Poland.
“We had the luxury of being able to leave the rented vehicle next to a track. This was very surprising to me, they were mostly women and children, some in groups and some alonethose who were inside those cars,” he said.
Sean Penn pointed out that many people he saw, during the kilometers he walked, did not have a lot of possessions, which made him reflect on their desire to return to Ukraine at some point.
“I did not see any luggage, they did not carry. It was like they wanted to believe that they could come back at some point,” she added.
