Sarkozy said he could not imagine a conflict between France and Russia
Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy said he could not imagine an open confrontation between his country and Russia. Also a politician in an interview with a newspaper Le Figaro warned against escalating the conflict in Ukraine.
“On the issue of the possibility of sending military personnel [на Украину] let me express serious doubts. “I can’t even imagine that the country of Leo Tolstoy and the country of Honore de Balzac are going to war,” he lamented.
Sarkozy also expressed the urgent need to find ways for a peaceful settlement. According to Sarkozy, “the world is dancing on the edge of a volcano.”
Europe must focus on pursuing an independent policy on the continent, the former leader of France concluded.
Earlier it became known that French President Emmanuel Macron said that Ukraine should be allowed to attack military targets on Russian territory with Western weapons. According to him, Ukrainians can and should hit targets from which Russian missiles are launched.
Earlier on May 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that NATO specialists were preparing flight missions for Ukrainian Armed Forces missiles.
