Clues have emerged online that point to a possible relaunch Of Resident Evil, the original from 1996apparently on PC but perhaps also on other platforms, based mainly on a recent one classification carried out by PEGI.
The body responsible for the age classification of videogame products in Europe has recently published a new update which brings Resident Evil back to PC within the catalogue, suggesting a new release for the title in question, perhaps in some new form but still linked to the original version.
The first Resident Evil was already released on PC in 1996, but the game is actually not very popular on current stores and is therefore not easy to find for purchase.
A famous game but not easy to find
The same thing also applies to other platforms: on PlayStation, for example, Resident Evil: Director’s Cut is available exclusively through the PlayStation Plus classics library. It is therefore not excluded that Capcom is thinking of a sort of new distribution for the game in question.
The curious thing is that the classification seems to refer precisely to the original 1996 chapter, so it would not be the Rebirth originally released in 2002 on the Gamecube as a true remake of the first chapter.
In this case it could be a new distribution of the classic Resident Evil, the one that gave rise to Capcom’s famous survival horror series, probably with some adaptations in terms of resolution and display on modern displays, but we await any confirmation on the matter.
Meanwhile, rumors have emerged about possible remakes of Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica in development.
