The Valencian Cortes were the scene this Thursday of the disagreement between the Government partners in the Generalitat Valenciana, PP and Vox. The place where the disagreements took place this Thursday was the Justice Commission where the PP rejected a proposal from Vox and the ultra another from the Popular Party.
The non-law proposal of the PP was presented in September 2023 against “any project that tries to break equality or recognize privileges or territories in any part of Spain and that violates the provisions of the Constitution”, as a result of the law. of amnesty promoted by the Government of Pedro Sánchez. The motion was registered after the president of the PP Alberto Núñez Feijóo decided to present proposals as a means to force socialist regional and provincial parliamentarians, as well as councilors, to speak out on the law. Today, Vox has abstained, to the surprise of the PP, which has not managed to move forward with the proposal, since it requires the votes of the ultra formation.
Shortly after, it was Vox who suffered from a lack of support. In this case, it was for a proposal on illegal immigration. In this he talks about the “immigration invasion” that Spain is suffering with “the entry of cultures incompatible with ours” and proposed, among other things, suspending development cooperation “with Senegal or any other country that does not collaborate with the management of flows.” immigration” or “immediately suspend any payment destined for Palestine or, where appropriate, to any NGO operating in Palestine.” Although this initial text has been replaced by another in which no country is named, the PP has decided not to support the proposal.
For the spokesperson of the socialists in the Cortes, José Muñoz, the events reveal the “instability of the Valencian Government.” Muñoz considers that despite the fact that the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has assumed the thesis of the extreme right on issues such as democratic memory as his own, he is now realizing that the ultra party “is becoming emboldened. “The extreme right is insatiable, it infects everything and Mazón is now a puppet of the extreme right,” said the socialist spokesperson.
PP sources have indicated that the coincidence in the lack of support from the Government partners is not due to differences between the Government partners. They maintain that the popular have not supported the illegal immigration proposal because the PP “is not in that, we do not agree with that but nothing more.”
