As stated by ‘Dayli Mail’, on January 27, 1971, a plane left Burlington International Airport, United States, bound for Providence, Rhode Island, and had on board two crew members and three employees of ‘Cousin’s Properties’, an Atlanta-based development company.
George Nikita, Donald Myers, Frank Wilder, Richard Kirby Windsor and Robert Ransom Williams III, who were inside the aircraft, disappeared and have not been found to this day.
The plane suffered an accident while flying over Lake Champlain, in Vermont, United States and, although a search was initiated, the flying object and its crew were not found.
53 years later and with the help of search expert Garry Kozak, debris from an airplane was found at the bottom of Lake Champlain, which would correspond to the missing plane.
Kristina Nikita Coffey, daughter of pilot George Nikita, was always aware of the searches that were carried out in the area, and even collected every news item that was published in the newspaper about it, to try to understand what happened that day.
Once Nikita found out about Kozak’s discovery, she confirmed that it was indeed the plane her father was flying: “I’ve looked at that photo of the plane all my life,” she told ‘CNN’.
Private jet that disappeared in 1971 would have been found
On May 27, Garry made the discovery and quickly informed the families of the missing people.
During the search, Kozak and his team used remotely operated vehicles and high-resolution imaging technology, discovering multiple remains that had never been located before.
The crew found a broken fuselage, matching the paint of the plane that disappeared years ago. They also found an instrument panel, the structure of a wing, possible remains of an engine and other important evidence.
After removing the objects, Kozak turned over all of his findings to the National Transportation Safety Board and authorities for verification.
