Petrol stations, revoked on the second day of the strike: the announcement of the unions
The second day of the petrol station strike was revoked: the decision was communicated by the unions after a new meeting with the government which took place in the early afternoon of Wednesday 25 January 2023.
The strike, called by Faib, Fegica and Figisc for Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 January, therefore, will end at 7.00 pm today, Wednesday 25 January, on the ordinary network and at 10.00 pm on the motorway network.
“The second day of the strike we lifted it in favor of motorists, certainly not for the executive – explain the unions in a note – While acknowledging that we were able to dialogue constructively with the Ministry which has spent its time becoming a proactive interlocutor, the meeting confirmed the persistence of many critical issues”.
The decision came after the meeting at the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy which was also attended by several members of the opposition: Vinicio Peluffo (Pd), Maria Cecilia Guerra (Pd-Idp) and Chiara Appendino (M5S).
“Even this latest, yet another attempt to remedy a by now worn-out situation, has failed to highlight any concrete element that would even allow us to imagine interventions on the very serious problems of the sector and on structural price containment” the unions explain.
In the press release, the trade unions underline that “the proposed amendments made by the government to its own decree do not remove the clear intention of identifying petrol station attendants as the recipients of confusing, counterproductive as well as clearly accusing fulfilments. It is now clear that any attempt to advise the government of reasonableness and concreteness cannot or does not want to be accepted”.
For this reason, “even insisting on continuing the strike action, used to gain a hearing from the government, no longer has any reason to exist. Especially since one of the fundamental objectives, namely to restore the truth after the false and decomposed accusations against a category of workers, has been abundantly achieved”.
