Uphill on Friday
First day of Free Practice for the Emilia-Romagna GP, not particularly exciting for the Red Bull, far from the ‘podium area’ with its drivers in both sessions. While Max Verstappen seemed rather nervous following some off-track exits, with various radio teams highlighting the lack of feeling with the RB20 (in addition to an episode with Lewis Hamilton, accused of obstructing him during one of his fastest laps) , Also Sergio Perez he didn’t end Friday’s practice on a high note.
Close to the penalty
Fourth and eighth in FP1 and FP2 respectively, the Mexican also risked receiving a penalty for impeding against Charles Leclerc during the second session at Shear. The #11, recalled by the stewards at the end of the activities on the track, was not however penalized by the Stewards for the incident.
Checo’s words
“Imola is a difficult circuit and an old school track, but it’s important to keep your head down – explained Checo – today the conditions were difficult at times with the wind and we need to work to make sure we can make the most of the car moving forward, but I hope that tomorrow we will be in a stronger position. Qualifying will be very important, so hopefully we’ll be lucky tomorrow, but I think this weekend we will be able to fight and be protagonists“.
