Owner Policy | The state is preparing to sell the shares of Finavia, VR, Gasum and Posti

State proposes in its new ownership policy principle decision that the parliament lowers the minimum ownership limit for four companies. The limit means a share that the state’s ownership must not be less than.

The minority ownership of airport company Finavia and rail transport company VR would be reduced from the current 100 percent to 50.1 percent. The minority ownership of the gas company Gasum and Posti would be reduced from the current 50.1 percent to 33.4 percent.

Instead, the government would like to increase the minimum ownership of the energy company Kemijoki to 33.4 percent. The government does not propose changes to the ownership of listed companies.

Government program the investment program according to the plan is to be financed mainly with business establishments’ revenues and property income, which are dividends, capital returns, share sales and other business arrangements.

“During the term of office, the state owner carefully evaluates the ownership arrangements and the optimal ownership structure of the companies. When planning ownership arrangements, the situation of companies and capital markets is always taken into account,” says the Minister for Europe and Ownership Anders Adlercreutz in the bulletin.

Owner control means using the state’s right to vote in general meetings and other actions by which the state as a shareholder contributes to the management and operating principles of the companies.
