Nottingham Forest announced that it had submitted an official request to the Professional Referees Committee in England to publish recordings of conversations between referees during the team's 2-0 defeat against Everton in the Premier League, after the match witnessed the refusal to award three penalty kicks requested by Nottingham.
A state of anger prevailed over Nottingham, who are struggling to avoid relegation, after they were denied three penalty kicks in the match that was held at Goodison Park, and the three cases related to Everton defender Ashley Young, as he collided with the foot of Giovanni Reyna the first time, followed by a call for a handball and then… Callum Hudson-Odoi is fouled inside the penalty area.
Nottingham issued a strongly worded statement via the “X” social networking platform, formerly known as Twitter, immediately after the match, in which it accused VAR assistant referee Stuart Attwell of being a Luton Town fan.
Nottingham was subject to a four-point penalty due to financial irregularities, and is ranked 17th in the league with 26 points, four points behind Everton in 16th place, who played one less match, while Luton occupies 18th place, one point behind Forest.
Nottingham said in a statement: “Today, Nottingham submitted an official request to the Professional Referees Committee in England to reveal to fans audio recordings of conversations between referees during yesterday’s match against Everton at Goodison Park.
He added, “The club requested the publication of recordings of conversations regarding three major incidents in the match: Ashley Young’s intervention on Giovanni Reyna (in the 24th minute), Ashley Young’s handball (44th minute), and Ashley Young’s intervention on Callum Hudson-Odoi (in the 56th minute).”
He added, “We strongly advocate for the greater football community and fans to have access to audio recordings and transcripts for complete transparency, which ensures that integrity exists in our sport.”
Forest is preparing for its match against its guest, Manchester City, next Sunday.
