Netflix is working on a new film inspired by a story that really happened a few years ago, during Thanksgiving, which saw Wanda Dench, an Arizona woman who mistakenly invited a stranger to his home for the American holiday.
It all began in 2016, when the student Jamal Hinton received a message from the woman, who was convinced that she sent the text message to her nephew rather than to a stranger. Wanda simply sent out an invitation to the Thanksgiving dinner, asking the “alleged grandson” if there was or not.
Not recognizing the phone number, Jamal asked for one photo of the person, to whom he then replied “You are not my grandmother. Could I still come to your house and eat something?“, To which Wanda then replied”Of course you can! Grandmothers do just that! They invite and welcome anyone“.
From there it started a tradition that continues today, six years later. Every year Jamal joins Wanda’s family for Thanksgiving. History has made the rounds of the web, spreading an aura of positivity and hope in people’s hearts.
