Dubai (Etihad)
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, affirmed that the decision to unify the armed forces is one of the immortal days in our history, our lives, and the memory of our nation.
His Highness said in his speech on the 48th anniversary of the unification of the armed forces: “The processes of developing and strengthening our armed forces will remain a priority in our national journey, out of our belief that possessing a deterrent force is the surest guarantee for maintaining peace,” and the following is the text of the speech:
In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful
Dear sons and daughters of the Emirates… the brave officers and soldiers of our armed forces
May the peace, blessings, and mercy of God be upon you
Today, the leadership, government and people celebrate the forty-eighth anniversary of the unification of the UAE Armed Forces.
Today, we are overwhelmed with feelings of pride and pride in the high level our forces have reached in organization, armament, efficiency, and performance of the tasks they are assigned to carry out, whether on the battlefields, in peacekeeping efforts, or in relief operations.
The unification decision made May 6, 1976, one of the immortal days in our history, our life, and the memory of our nation. On this day, the symbol of our state, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, supported by the founding fathers, may God bless them all, completed the pillars of our union and launched the process of building our armed forces to be the impregnable fortress of our state capable of confronting all threats to its sovereignty, security and stability.
Since the issuance of the unification decision, and over the past forty-eight years, our armed forces have progressed at an upward pace, achieving qualitative advances in organization, qualification, armament, efficiency, and field capacity, thus achieving their rightful place among the world’s modern armies. The process of developing and strengthening our armed forces will remain a priority in our national journey, out of our belief that possessing a deterrent force is the surest guarantee for maintaining peace.
What distinguishes the process of building our armed forces is that it has kept pace with the comprehensive development processes in our country, and has achieved achievements and successes parallel to what we have achieved in building humanity and urbanism. Throughout its construction process, it received great attention from our successive heads of state, Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Khalifa, may God have mercy on them, and from my brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may God protect him, who over more than four decades led efforts to develop our armed forces, and was the driving force behind It has reached the honorable level of which our nation is proud and of which our society is reassured.
While the achievements of development and modernization included all components of our armed forces, the greatest achievement remains linked to the formation of our military human resources. The human element formed the focus of development and modernization processes through plans that included the establishment of military schools, institutes, colleges and universities whose structure and theoretical and practical programs are comparable to the best of their counterparts in the world.
Our human resources were strengthened by the launch of the National Service Program in the world in 2014. The program was a qualitative addition that provided our young men and women with opportunities to present the most wonderful examples of national belonging, and to confirm their readiness to answer the call of the nation if the caller calls.
I salute the sons and daughters of the Emirates who have come to the program with passion and commitment since its launch. They demonstrated their ability to endure the hardships of military life, and demonstrated their dedication to giving to the homeland and sacrificing for the sake of its pride, nobility, security, and stability.
Every year, thousands of our sons and daughters graduate from the program and return to civilian life with greater self-confidence, deeper commitment to our nation’s higher interests, and more positive in their dealings with public and private affairs. Graduates of the National Service Program are a huge asset to our nation and our armed forces. They increase their strength and resilience, and increase the unity, cohesion and solidarity of our society.
Dear citizens, male and female
As we celebrate the forty-eighth anniversary of the unification of our armed forces, we highly appreciate and value their multiple roles in the life of our nation, in addition to their main role in preserving its sovereignty, security and stability.
The roles of our armed forces have become comparable to the roles played by the armed forces in developed countries, whether in the field of research and development, in the field of manufacturing, or in qualifying and preparing leaders and providing society with distinguished expertise in all fields.
It is credited to the senior leadership of our armed forces that they realized early on the importance and necessity of building Emirati military industries. On the day of the issuance of the unification decision, Sheikh Zayed, may God have mercy on him, assured us of this importance and necessity. Manufacturing progressed from light weapons ammunition to the manufacture of these weapons, and the manufacture of various ammunition. Types of weapons, building frigates, landing ships, speedboats, training aircraft, drones, mechanisms, missiles, guidance systems, means of communication, and air defense systems.
Today, our industries contribute to meeting an important part of the needs of our armed forces, and compete with their high-quality and efficient products in the international arms market. These industries have become an important tributary to our efforts to diversify our economy, a vital field for research and development and the formation of scientific competencies, and an effective tool in strengthening our country’s relations with brotherly and friendly countries.
Dear citizens, male and female
On this most important day, I am with you at the hands of all members of our regular and reserve armed forces, and members of the security services and civil protection agencies. I remember with you with reverence, appreciation and gratitude our righteous martyrs and their patient and seeking families. I salute with you the leader of our journey, my brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and I thank him for what he has given and is offering to our nation and our people. I salute my brothers, Their Highnesses, Members of the Supreme Council, Rulers of the Emirates, and congratulate them on this fragrant anniversary that we celebrate, and we are more capable and determined to move our nation along the paths of strength, progress, and glory.
I thank God who wrote for us to accompany the victorious march to build our armed forces. I ask His honorable face to perpetuate His blessings upon us, to strengthen us, to inspire us to the right path, and to enable us to perform our duties in the service of our religion, our nation, and our people.
Peace, mercy and blessings of God
