Milan coach Stefano Pioli is looking forward to beating Inter Milan in the “derby” match today, Monday, in the Italian Football League championship.
Milan aims to win over its neighbor, to make up for the disappointment of being eliminated from the Europa League by Roma last week.
Milan occupies second place behind Inter Milan, whose victory in the “derby” guarantees the crowning of the league title, which is what Pioli also seeks to avoid and exploit as an additional incentive for his players.
Pioli said in statements on his club’s official website, “Pride, redemption, belonging, and responsibility are all terms that translate the importance of the match.”
The Milan coach added, “We have a great opportunity, and winning is important for several reasons, such as the league table, exit from the European League, and Inter Milan’s quest to secure its crown in the match.”
Stefano Pioli stressed, “I have a lot of confidence in my team, and the players are well aware of the importance of the match, and it is very important that we play with confidence and avoid wasting opportunities in the first minutes, as happened in the recent derbies.”
Milan is also seeking to restore its reputation after losing to Inter Milan with a score of 1-5 in the first round match, knowing that it lost the last five confrontations against its neighbor and arch-rival.
Pioli concluded his statements, “Inter deserves to win the league title, but we must make every effort to avoid winning the crown in the (derby) match.”
