There McLaren has officially presented a new car: news that does not concern the single-seater of 2022, which will instead be unveiled on 11 February, but rather another ‘piece’ that will increase the passion of Formula 1 lovers, collectors and, above all, from the Lego. Starting from 1 March 2022the historic Danish brick company will introduce its version of the McLaren MCL35Mthat is the car that the British team used during the 2021 season. The mini-single-seater, made by Lego Technic, in this way consolidates the partnership between the two realities, doing so with the creation of a unique car of its kind: specifically, the car will also present some interpretations of the new look of the car, and which refers to the new technical regulations expected for the 2022 World Championship. In addition to this, the model also includes some important details created in collaboration with McLaren technicians: among them, the V6 engine – with the pistons in motion – the steering controllable from the cockpit, the suspension, and the differential lock. These characteristics have already been highlighted by Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norriswho first interacted with the car in a clip posted on the team’s social channels.
The model, consisting of 1432 pieces, has a height of 13 cm, in addition to 64 cm in length and another 27 in width. In this way, the only Lego Technic line will launch its own on the market first Formula 1 single-seater, which adds to the model created by Lego – less complex to make – dedicated to Mercedes: “We are thrilled to unveil the unique LEGO Technic model of our McLaren F1 car – commented James KeyTechnical Director of the Woking House – a fun and engaging product that celebrates our 2021 season livery, giving fans a hands-on interpretation of the new F1 2022 car design.
